All are welcome!

Worship is at the heart of our life together.  The style of our Celebration Service is that of a blend of traditional hymns and liturgies and contemporary music and songs.

Third Sunday in Advent

"Advent is the period of four Sundays and weeks before Christmas (or sometimes from the 1st December to Christmas Day!). Advent means 'Coming' in Latin. This is the coming of Jesus into the world. Christians use the four Sundays and weeks of Advent to prepare and remember the real meaning of Christmas. The themes for each of the four Sundays include HOPE, PEACE, JOY and LOVE."

The Scripture readings for next Sunday include:

Isaiah 61:1-4, 8-11; 1 thessalonians 5:16-24; Psalm 126; Gospel of John 1:6-8, 19-28

Sacraments

We believe that God has provided means through which we receive God's grace, namely The Word and The Sacraments. The Word is God's written Word in the Bible, and the proclaimed Word as the gospel is preached and taught. The sacraments are:

Holy Baptism - We baptize infants, believing that through the water and God's promise, they are given the gift of faith and received into God's family. It is very important that parents of children baptized are Christians who will raise their children in the faith by word and example.

Holy Communion - We believe that in a mysterious way that we cannot rationally understand, the true presence of Christ is with us--in, with, and under the bread and wine. Our Church body has an open practice regarding communion.  Participation in Holy Communion is open to all persons, whatever their age, who believe in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.  All believers are welcome at the :Lord's table.

Weddings

The rite of marriage is a Christian celebration, so it is assumed that the couples are Christians who wish to be joined in holy marriage in the sight of God and within the faith community. We invite all couples preparing for marriage to meet with the pastor, who will work with them to prepare the service and plan for marriage preparation counseling.

Funerals

People experiencing the loss of a loved one may contact the church for compassionate help in coping with grief and preparing a funeral service.

The attached booklet is provided for your information should you choose Glory Lutheran Church as the funeral location.
