Next Worship Service - August 20, 2017 @ 10:30
"In Isaiah we hear that God's house shall be a house of prayer for all people and that God will gather the outcasts of israel. The Canaanite woman in thie Sunday's gospel is a Gentile, an outsider, who is unflinching in her request that Jesus heal her daughter. As Jesus commends her bold faith, how might our church extend its mission to those on the margins of society? In our gathering around word and meal we receive strength to be signs of comfort, healing, and justice for those in need."
The Scripture readings for next Sunday include:
Isaiah 56:1, 6-8; Romans 11:1-2a, 29-32; Psalm 67, 14-21; Gospel of Matthew 15:10-28
LECTIONARY FOR YEAR "A" - 2016 - 2017 EASTER PENTECOST
Communion is part of the Worship Service on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month.
We believe that God has provided means through which we receive God's grace, namely The Word and The Sacraments. The Word is God's written Word in the Bible, and the proclaimed Word as the gospel is preached and taught. The sacraments are:
Holy Baptism - We baptize infants, believing that through the water and God's promise, they are given the gift of faith and received into God's family. It is very important that parents of children baptized are Christians who will raise their children in the faith by word and example.
Holy Communion - We believe that in a mysterious way that we cannot rationally understand, the true presence of Christ is with us--in, with, and under the bread and wine. Our Church body has an open practice regarding communion. Participation in Holy Communion is open to all persons, whatever their age, who believe in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. All believers are welcome at the :Lord's table.

We welcome man and woman couples who wish to be married at our church. The rite of marriage is a Christian celebration, so it is assumed that the couples are Christians who wish to be joined in holy marriage in the sight of God and within the faith community. We invite all couples preparing for marriage to meet with the pastor, who will work with them to prepare the service and plan for marriage preparation counseling.
People experiencing the loss of a loved one may contact the church for compassionate help in coping with grief and preparing a funeral service.
The attached booklet is provided for your information should you choose Glory Lutheran Church as the funeral location.
